1. Registration of new plant varieties
The candidates of new varieties are registered in case the variety shows one or more better character than the current varieties or the same level, at least, in terms of economical values such as homogenous, stability, being evaluated in regards to productivity, earliness,resistance against diseases and pests, conformity with sectoral purpose and mechanization as well as internal and foreign trade purposes.
The trials of 204 candidates of new varieties belong to 31 different plant specimen and 196 standard varieties are carried out in 277 locations in various geographical regions.
Registration of 1,602 varieties belonging to 72 plant species is realized in the context of registration activities which is started since 1963.
2. Certification of seeds
The main purpose is to ensure that seedling belonging the plant varieties which is determined its conformity with internal and foreign markets is produced in accordance with the standards, to ensure sustainability of purity of the variety and ensure that the producers can have an access complainant materials such as seedling, sapling, clonal plant,Variety / Rootstock stock material propagating unit being conducted field, greenhouse, and laboratory tests, accordingly. For the purpose of meeting these aims, 6,426 samples representing the 148,194 tons of seed are certified in 2006. Also, 5,384 certificates are issued for 139,615 tons of seedling and 1042 reports are issued for 8,579 tons of seedling.
1240 OECD certificates for 22,132 tons of seedling, 225 ISTA Blue for 5,521 tons of seedling and 331 ISTA orange certificate for 2,194 tons of seedling are issued, respectively. Also, 77,658,704 certificates for fruit, vine saplings, and strawberry clonal plantbelonging to 26 varieties are issued.
