Trial periods before application for species of field plants: Candidate varieties to register plant varieties are taken to trials before application. These trials are established for annual field plant species being compatible with grow habits of the candidate variety synchronously at least two locations, at least two location for one growth season or at least two growth season at one location; however, for multi-annual field plant varieties at least two growth season and two locations.

Pre-trials on vegetable species: pre-trials are established for one growth season at least one location. In the trial, control or similar varieties are used in order that the characteristics in questionnaire or in document of variety characteristics are identified or verified. The institution having the variety informs VRSCC about trial place and plan. VRSCC issues technical reports, conducting controls of trials in the framework of annual programs.​
