PAKDEMİRLİ: 'We could give support to Pakistan in the field of irrigation investments'
KHAN, Prime Minister of Pakistan: 'Republic of Turkey holds a very good position in agricultural area'. 'We expect from Turkey to give us support'
Bekir Pakdemirli (PhD), Minister of Agriculture and Forestry and İmran Khan, Prime Minister of Pakistan met in Ankara.
Expressing that he is very glad to see Pakistan Prime Minister İmran Khan, who was started working as the Prime Ministry in August 2018, Minister PAKDEMİRLİ firstly thanked Pakistan for giving support to Turkey against traitor coup attempt by Fethullahist Terrorist Organization/Parallel State Structure (FETO/PDY) in our country.
Minister Pakdemirli said that 'as you well know our country often faces with terrorist groups, due to its political and geographical position, and after traitor coup attempt by FETO/PDY in our country in 2016, it is very important for Turkey to see your supports. We, as a Turkey, have been closely following the developments in Pakistan since 2018. We, as all country, felt sorrow for particularly terrorist attacks against your country by DAESH with which we also combat regionally'. 'We strongly believe that our efforts and stable position for preventing terrorist attacks across the World will give the positive results in future, he also said.'
'WE HOLDS SEVENTH POSITION IN AGRICULTURAL REVENUE'
Stressing that Republic of Turkey could make cooperation on all agricultural areas with Pakistan friendly and brother nation, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli (PhD) said that 'Today, we are together with prominent representatives of agriculture, livestock and food sectors in our country. I believe that agricultural trade volume between both countries will further increase. Our economic and trade relationships with Pakistan is important for us and we would like to protect the relationships as far as possible. According the trade data, even if trade data is in a stable position over the years, I consider that both general and agricultural trade potentials between our countries are lagging behind our real potential. I consider that we have significant potential in agricultural sector especially in milk and dairy products, chickpea, lentil, tea, olive oil, sugar and chocolate production'. Moreover, 'I believe that our sector representatives should meet with together and do business together. We hold seventh position in agricultural revenue in the World. We are in a quite good position for technical knowledge and information'.
'WE COULD PROVIDE TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR PAKISTAN ON IRRIGATION INVESTMENTS'
Highlighting that our country is in a good situation for water resources, Minister PAKDEMİRLİ said that 'we, by and large, make use of rain waters and rivers. Recently, we have attached more importance to irrigation technologies and investments and we aim at increase in agricultural production volume by 30%. We, as a Turkey, could provide technical support for Pakistan on irrigation investments'.
Expressing that we, as a country, are also in a good position for food processing sector and stating that there are our brands which are moving towards becoming a world brand, Minister Pakdemirli (PhD) added that they would like to visit to Pakistan with the businessmen in future times and discuss on cooperation possibilities.
PAKISTAN HAS A BIG POTENTIAL ON AGRICULTURE AND LIVESTOCK
Expressing that current good relationships between both countries should also be reflected to agricultural area is important, Imran Khan, Prime Minister of Pakistan said that 'Republic of Turkey is in a very good position in the agricultural area. Our country has also a big potential on agriculture and livestock sectors. We expect from Turkey to give us support particularly for irrigation, food processing, halal meat, and increase in agricultural yields'
The Minister for Planning, Development and Reform from Pakistan, Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtyar and Ambassador Syrus Sajjad Qazi from Ankara Embassy of Pakistan and private sector representatives from our country were also participated in the meeting held between Bekir Pakdemirli (PhD), Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, and İmran Khan, Prime Minister of Pakistan.
