Bekir Pakdemirli, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry has said: "We care about the transition into high-tech in agriculture and animal husbandry. In this context, test studies for the electronic earrings prepared by using local technology will be started with the cattle."
Bekir Pakdemirli (PhD), Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, has attended to the meeting of "173rd Anniversary of Agricultural Education" within the context of Agriculture Day at the Faculty of Agriculture of Ege University.
Expressing the pride of being on the lectern of the university where his father was a lecturer in his speech at the meeting, Minister Pakdemirli has introduced the members of the press and the lecturers the electronic earrings developed for the cattle.
Mentioning that they have started a pilot project for the earrings, Minister Pakdemirli has said that the Project is conducted in the farms of TIGEM and they have already produced 20 thousand earrings up to now.
Remarking that the electronic earrings will be worn by about 17 million animals, Minister Pakdemirli has also added:
" In the near future, by expanding these earrings, we will immediately receive the animals' data like the rut, daily life, follow-up, counting and cutting, etc. This prototype is a little bit big but it will be minimized soon. There is a cell phone inside it. This cell phone will take the animal's temperature. And it will also talk and give information about the condition of the animal. The veterinarian will apply artificial insemination to the animal. We will have the opportunity to learn the history of the animal by these earrings. For instance, we can learn where the animal is coming from by just one application. We will be able to see if there is a quarantine region, whether the animal is in or out there. There has not yet been a type of these earrings that last for 3-4 years. We are working together with a Turkish Firm. It is really nice that this firm is both local and national. We hope that we will successfully go on working on this issue."
Minister Bekir Pakdemirli has also remarked that urgent information and intervention will be reached if necessary thanks to the extensive usage of the electronic earrings.
