"TURKEY WILL NOT IMPORTED MEAT BY THE END OF 2021"
Emphasizing that there would be no politics of land and agriculture Pakdemirli said, "Agriculture is more important than defense industry. Why is that? Because you can have everything like rockets, planes, all kinds of technology, but if the refrigerator is empty in the house and people are hungry, there is nothing to do here. Our most basic needs are agriculture and food. In this sense, I always say that agriculture is more important than anything else."
Minister Pakdemirli pointing, in the presence of ovine and bovine milk in the European Union (EU) Turkey comes first, while in the presence of cattle comes second after France. And he continues that, as the country with the largest agricultural product in Europe, they use the resources very well but should be used much better.
Referring to the increase in production in agriculture, Pakdemirli said that there are some problems related to meat from time to time.
Pakdemirli noted that in 2002, 6.1 kilograms of meat was consumed per person per year and in 2017 it was 14 kilograms, continued as follows:
"In other words our meat consumption has increased so much that our meat production in animal husbandry is not enough. The chicken has grown from 10 kilograms to 26, we have exports on this side. Fish dropped from 6.7 kilograms to 5.5 kilograms; it means that we're headed for too much meat. Since the fish is healthy, I always recommend the fish to be consumed. At the moment no significant needs of Turkey about meat, if there is a need, we will import again. Like I said in October or November, as of today Turkey does not need the meat for at least 6 months; but if necessary, we can do planning. Hopefully the end of 2021 Turkey will not be in a position to import meat or live animals any more."
"FEED SUPPORT" NEWS TO COMPANY REQUEST CONCORDATUM
Minister Bekir Pakdemirli reminded that a poultry company in Adana requested concordatum and stated "I just met the governor of Adana. I would also like to thank our Governor, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and the ministry bureaucrats. This problem has been solved. Of course, we do not wish to see these problems, but we live in free market conditions. While some companies sinking, some companies are coming out in free market conditions, we found that a concordatized company could not provide feed support. We learned that, through the protocols made after our attempts, the feed support will be provided and our chicks will live. This, of course, has been a development that has comforted both me and the ministry bureaucrats and public conscience.".
