Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Bekir Pakdemirli stated that with the implementation of the new rural development project at 98 million Euros by the Ministry it is targeted to reach 30 thousand households in the 2162 villages in the first stage.
Ministers Pakdemirli indicated that they will implement the "Development Project in the Rural Disadvantaged Areas" that will contribute to 2023 targets of Turkey.
Minister Pakdemirli said that the project will consist of two phases. In the first phase, 45 districts and 2162 villages in the disadvantaged regions of Adana, Mersin, Osmaniye, Kastamonu, Sinop and Bartin will be included. Pakdemirli stated that it is expected to reach 30 thousand household with the project. He said, "The budget of the first phase is 52.5 million Euros."
ATTRACTION CENTERS WILL BE CREATED IN THE RURAL AREA
Pakdemirli emphasized that the development of agricultural enterprises with low incomes and no alternative income will be supported by the project. He said, "A value chain from production to marketing will be established and a cluster approach will be adopted. We will provide 70-100% grant support to our producers in order to support plant and animal production. The project will enable small producers, farmers' organizations, small and medium-sized enterprises to be developed. With agricultural infrastructure and public investments, these regions will be transformed into attraction centers in the rural areas. "
Pakdemirli indicated that Çankırı and Kahramanmaraş will be added to the second phase of the project and the total budget will be increased to 98 billion Euros. He said that the details of "Development Project in the Rural Disadvantaged Areas" will be announced in the opening meeting in Ankara on March 5.
