IF IT IS SUCCEEDED, MOUNTED GUARDS WILL BE WIDENED
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, General Directorate of Forestry started the "Mounted Guards to Forests" implementation in Istanbul Belgrat Forests. According to the success of the pilot implementation, mounted guards will be widened in other regions.
In the early periods of the establishment of the forest organization, mounted guards were protecting the forests from illegal activities. The uniforms of the mounted guards are modernized according to today's conditions and started to protect the forests against illegal activities again.
FOREST GUARD OFFICERS ARE WORKING IN THE TEAM
The pilot implementation of the mounted guards started in the forests of Belgrat in Istanbul. Mounted guards will especially serve in the recreation areas of the forest. The one month long training of the the mounted guards were given by horse riding instructors from the General Directorate of Security. At the end of the training, mounted guards were given horse riding certificates.
THEY WILL WORK AT THE WEEKENDS
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli emphasized that mounted guards that will serve within the scope of the pilot implementation in Belgrat forests consist of four horses and six forest guard officers and "These teams will serve at the weekends between March and September. According to the success of the pilot implementation, we will start necessary work for the widening of similar activities," he said.
THEY WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE PROMOTION OF FORESTRY SERVICE IN THE PUBLIC
Minister Pakdemirli added that the use of mounted guards to protect forests against illegal activities which are consisting of forest guard officers would contribute to the promotion of the forestry service in the public.
