The teams of the General Directorate for Food and Control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry conducted inspections at the sacrificial animal market in Yenimahalle, Yakacık.
The authorities increased their controls at the market where the producers and sellers meet from many parts of Turkey as sales begin.
Officials listened to the demands of nutritionists and shopkeepers during inspections also attended by veterinarians and offered suggestions to citizens who would buy sacrificial animals.
Mümtaz Sinan, General Director for Food and Control, evaluated the market, said that they ensure healthy animals' arrival to market and do not allow entrance of any weak and diseased animals and animals without passports or with missing ear tags and added that they carry out a 7-day 24-hour inspection on this issue.
Referring to Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli's sensitivity on this issue, Mr. Sinan said: "We act very carefully to avoid problems in the areas, controlled by our organizations, provincial directorates of Agriculture and Forestry, veterinarians and sacrificial animal commissions in Turkey."
Mr. Sinan mentioned that as in every year they prepared a "sacrificial animal guide" this year and distributed it in Turkey to be used while buying animals and he noted that at the same time, by the "HAYSAG" application for mobile phones, all kinds of information about the the animals can be obtained, he said.
With the application of" HAYSAG", the species, race, gender, age, where animals come from, where they are now and the vaccine information can be known by downloading to the phone.
After the mobile application is installed to the mobile phone, the animal information can be questioned by reading the barcode on the earring of the animal or by entering the earring number of the animal.
