AN INVESTMENT OF HALF BILLION TURKISH LIRAS FOR NEW HASANKEYF
Work has been completed within the scope of the reconstruction of Hasankeyf district, which will remain in the reservoir area of the Ilısu Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) constructed by the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSI) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. To date, an allowance of half billion Turkish Liras was transferred for the resettlement.
Ilısu Dam and HPP, GAP's visionary project, which is the world's largest dam in its class in terms of fill volume, will generate an average of 4.12 billion kWh of energy annually and will contribute $ 412 million solely from electricity generation to the economy. Considering the expropriation, construction and resettlement activities, this colossal project, which has an investment cost of approximately TL 12.3 billion, has the potential to cover this cost in 5 years.
HOUSING UNITS AND BUSINESSES HANDED OVER TO RIGHT HOLDERS
Having stated that Hasankeyf district of Batman province will be abundant with waters after the construction of Ilısu Dam and housing units in the new settlement area of Hasankeyf district of Batman has been completed; Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli (Phd) noted: "The completed 710 housing units were delivered to the right holders. In addition, we distributed the keys of 98 businesses to the right holders in the completed commercial center."
Having underlined that they aim Hasankeyf to be one of the favorite districts of Turkey with the project, Minister Pakdemirli mentioned: "When old Hasankeyf residential area was 500 hectares, the new settlement unit was built on 3000 decares about 3 kilometers away. In the new settlement area where the green areas have increased, many institutions such as District Governorship, Municipality service building, District Gendarmerie Command, District Police Department, Batman University Tourism and Hotel Management Vocational School and 25-bed Hasankeyf State Hospital began to provide services."
HORIZONTAL ARCHITECTURE IN HARMONY WITH REGIONAL ARCHITECTURE
Having stated that the new settlement unit was built in harmony with the architecture of the region, Pakdemirli noted; "Those from Hasankeyf will lead their lives in single-storey detached modern houses with comfort of 160 square meters instead of 30-40 square meters houses in the area where horizontal architecture is applied."
AN ALLOWANCE OF HALF BILLION TURKISH LIRAS TRANSFERRED
Having underlined that the cultural and educational area where historical works will be exhibited was created in new Hasankeyf Minister Pakdemirli said; "The area, where the construction was completed and delivered to the Ministry of Culture, was planned as a major tourism area where the historical and cultural past of the region will be exhibited. Many historical works of art, notably Mausoleum of Zeynel Bey, were moved to the area and opened to the visit.
"So far, approximately 500 million, resettlement allowance of an approximately half billion Turkish Liras was also transferred to the Presidency of the Housing Development Administration (TOKI)", Minister Pakdemirli added.
