European Union Common Market Organization
Our Ministry's EU Twinning Project entitled `Improving the Institutional Capacity Building for Fishery Producer Organisations' aims at introducing EU's Common Market Organization (CMO) in Turkey in accordance with the EU Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). These policies focus on having an ecologically, economically and socially more sustainable fisheries and aquaculture sector. In our project we focus especially on improving the institutional and legal framework in Turkey in line with the CMO. In that respect Turkish Producer Organisations play a key role its implementation process. Together with Producer Organisations, we aim to find the most suitable and effective tools and mechanisms to organise the market in Turkey.
Component 1 and its related working group focuses on developing policies and a draft legislation in line with outcomes of the other two components.
Activities expected to be realised within the component mentioned are e.g.:
Reviewing current fisheries and aquaculture legislation as well as the current EU alignment situation
Identifying challenges and critical issues in the legal harmonization process
Preparing guiding principles to improve legal harmonisation
Forming Fisheries and Aquaculture Producers' Organization in accordance with EU's CMO
Preparing a strategy to implement all components of EU's CMO in Turkey
Preparing a draft legislation related to fisheries and aquaculture Producers' Organization compatible with the EU Acquis.
