​Duties and Authorities

To determine principles, strategies and policies of water quality monitoring,

To prepare and update the basin monitoring programs; to identify monitoring stations, monitoring parameters, monitoring intervals and monitoring methods and trace to publish guidance documents,

To ensure monitoring of surface, groundwater, coastal and transitional waters in terms of quantity and quality, to set up data processing and evaluation system, to ensure reporting of system,

To ensure coordination between the institutions and organizations, to develop a common monitoring standards, to avoid duplication in monitoring,

To define and revise surface waterbodies and ground waterbodies and types of these waterbodies,

To determine, control and report the qualifications required for laboratories doing water quality measurements,

To do research and development for monitoring related systems and technology activities,

To evaluate and report monitoring data, to conduct statistical studies related to these data, to evaluate and to report the results,

To collect data about water resources and infrastructure systems, to prepare inventory, to conduct statistical studies, to evaluate the results, to classify, report and publish them in province and basin scale, to report and publish the relevant results,

To analyse, evaluate and serve water related data to be used in Geographic Information Systems,

To constrain National Water Information System and operate the system in a sustainable manner, to conduct the related studies relevant to the system, and to execute research and development,

To suggest results to be implemented in water management sector by evaluating water quality, hydrologic and hydro-homomorphological data produced at the river basin scale with various methods,
To conduct or to have conducted studies on data assessment and storage,

To decide principles, policies and strategies for the selection and/or development of models those will be used to specify future water quality and to develop the most appropriate conservation policy according to various scenarios,

To develop open source models about water management issues and make them implemented,

Providing a coordination between instutions in order to guarantee productive usage of models and applicability of outputs,

To follow and report national and international studies related to issues within the responsibility of Head of Department, to prepare policies and guidance documents and to organize or to have organised training activities,

To perform other duties as assigned by the General Director.
