a) Conducting studies related to water law and legislation, and coordinating activities on this subject,
b) Following national and international legal processes and activities, to prepare and report opinions, to ensure coordination,
c) Contributing to the development of our country's national and international water policies; following the works and transactions related to the water policies of our country; evaluating and reporting studies,
d) Following national and international water management processes and activities, coordinating, evaluating and reporting between institutions,
e) Conducting on transboundary and border setting waters, developing policies and providing coordination,
f) Establishing the national water security policy and strategy, to carry out the necessary planning and implementation studies; providing the necessary coordination to prepare water security legislation,
g) Providing the data, information and strategic opinion on water management that will form the basis of international relations; coordinating work and agreements with bilateral, multilateral, regional and international organizations on this issue, following, evaluating and reporting international developments,
h) Coordination of the EU Environment and Climate Change Chapter Water Quality Sector and international relations on water management in the scope of EU,
i) Informing the senior authorities and relevant units about the amendments by following all kinds of legislation concerning the General Directorate,
j) To follow and report national and international studies on matters within the scope of duty of the Department, to prepare legislation, to prepare or have guide documents prepared on needed issues, to carry out training studies or to have them made,
k) To perform other duties assigned by the General Director.
