Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli visited Governor of Khartoum Abdul Rahim Mohammad Hussein in his office within the Sudan program.
Remarking that the number of ministries in Turkey fell 16 in the new government system, "We have learned that the number of your ministers will be reduced from 15 to 8. I say that Allah make it easy for the new ministers to take more responsibility." Minister Pakdemirli stated.
Minister Pakdemirli added that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is also the merging of the two ministries and is interested in food, agriculture, livestock, forestry and water.
Indicating that they are very excited about investing in Sudan, Pakdemirli said:
"We are here to make cooperation in the field of agriculture and livestock with the framework agreement we made in 2014. Due to changing conditions and governments, this issue has not progressed as fast as we requested but I gladly saw that the Governor of Khartoum is very excited about this issue and is willing to invest."
Minister Bekir Pakdemirli underlined that in the last 30-35 years welfare of Turkey increased 5 times by important progresses and added that one of the driving forces behind, is the provision of a proper environment to the investor.
Minister Pakdemirli recommended the Sudanese authorities to keep the cost of investors to the minimum and to win by tax, employment and investment so that success will be achieved when such a vision is acted upon.
"Despite the economic turbulence in our country, we grew by 5.2 percent"
Minister Pakdemirli emphasized that Turkey is exposed to various attacks due to standing upright against the events in the south of Turkey and continued:
"One of these is the coup of FETO and we are very grateful to have you with us, and now we have an economic attack on our country, but our country managed to grow by 5.2 per cent in the last quarter."
Pakdemirli talked about the possibility of working together with Sudan on agriculture and livestock and stated that Turkey can meet some of their agricultural needs from Sudan.
"We have the best investment laws in the region"
Governor of Khartoum Hussein noted that Sudan is a member of the Common Market for East and South Africa (COMESA), added that about 500 million people live in member countries and that customs duty is not applied to shopping on the region.
Hussein stated that they are properly analyzing the investments that can be made in Khartoum and gave information about them.
Stating that they had the best investment laws in the region Hussein expressed as follows:
"We are the largest agricultural country in Africa as Sudan. We have 86 million hectares of arable land available. It is moderately raining throughout the year, but I am specifying that the biggest problems are the lack of infrastructure in energy and the roads, so investors can do something about these problems when they come here."
After the meeting in Governorate of Khartoum, Minister Pakdemirli visited Masjid-i Kebir that Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) restored with the instructions of our President Erdogan and the graves of the Ottoman pashas in Khartoum with the Ambassador of Turkey in Khartoum Irfan Neziroğlu and the accompanying delegation.
Minister Pakdemirli, attended the reception organized for his excellency after a visit to the Embassy of Turkey.
