Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Republic of Turkey and Federal Republic of Germany on the margin of the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture held in Berlin.
Mr. Bekir Pakdemirli, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey, represents Turkey in the Forum. Following the welcoming reception, Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in agricultural activities between Turkey and Germany was signed by Minister Bekir Pakdemirli and Ms. Julia Klöckner, Minister of Food and Agriculture of Germany.
This MoU envisages to establish a working group between two countries in order to eliminate the technical barriers against the agricultural business. Both countries also aim to build technical cooperation and exchange of knowledge on agricultural technology and cooperative systems.
THEME OF THE FORUM: AGRICULTURE GOES DIGITAL – SMART SOLUTIONS FOR FUTURE FARMING
The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture takes place in Berlin on 17-19 January 2019. Ministers for Agriculture, business people and representatives of academia and civil society from 70 countries are among the participants of the Forum. According to this year's theme, the Forum focuses on policies related to agriculture, food and livestock with a view to offering solutions to the current challenges.
MINISTER PAKDEMIRLI ACTS AS THE CHAIR OF SESSION
Dr. Bekir Pakdemirli acts as the chair of the Session titled "Structural Changes in Agriculture and Rural Areas". Mr. Pakdemirli will also have bilateral talks with his counterparts.
It is the first time that German Chancellor Angela Merkel will also participate in the Forum and deliver a speech on "Importance of Digital Technologies for Agriculture".
Ministers of Agriculture will attend the Ministerial Section on January 19 and a joint declaration will be announced at the end of the Forum.
