MINISTER PAKDEMIRLI "WE DO ONE'S PART"
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli met with Eylem Yazıcı, the mother of 3.5-year-old Öykü Arin who was fighting blood cancer and waiting for a marrow transplant.
Bekir Pakdemirli, who was in Germany to attend the 11th Berlin Agriculture Ministers Summit, broke off preparation of the session on "Structural Changes in Agriculture and Rural Areas" for 3.5-year-old Öykü Arin.
Minister Pakdemirli made a video call with Öykü's mom Eylem Yazıcı and said "We do one's part." Pakdemirli stated that he also have 3 children aged 2, 10 and 12 years and said " I will call for donor and blood donation campaign from my social media account. You can contact us anytime what we can do."
Öykü's mother, Eylem Yazici, thanked the Minister Pakdemirli and said people have a wrong idea about stem cells, they were afraid of making stem cell donations and about this issue public should be informed correctly.
"WE WILL BE A GLIMMER OF HOPE FOR OUR CHILDREN"
As he promised to Öykü Arin and her family, Minister Pakdemirli shared a video from his social media account and he said "Let's donate blood for thousands of babies waiting for health like Öykü, we will be a glimmer of hope for our children."
Öykü Arin, daughter of Çağdaş and Eylem Yazıcı, a couple living in İzmir, was diagnosed as juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML) rarely seen in infants and children.
For the little girl waiting for marrow transplant, tissue typing campaigns organized in various cities of Germany and Turkey but failed to get results.
