"NATURAL COLORED COTTON CAN BE USED IN FABRIC PRODUCTION"
Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bekir Pakdemirli said that, two types of cotton, called "sarı gelin" and "gelincik" will be produced.
Minister Pakdemirli stated that colored cotton has been developed within the scope of agricultural production research carried out by the ministry.
Minister Pakdemirli mentioned that, "Sarı gelin and gelincik, one dark and one light brown, two natural colored cotton production will be performed. Thus, in the fabric production, without dye, completely natural and colorful cotton can be used."
"THIS YEAR PRODUCTION WILL BE 25 DECARES"
Pakdemirli stated that an agreement was made with a well-established textile company for the mass production of the product developed by the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM) and contracted production will be done in a larger area after 2020.
Pakdemirli stated that the company will be producing in an area of 25 decares this year, and said that "2 natural-colored cotton was registered with the names of sarı gelin which is light coffee and gelincik dark coffee. The fact that it does not contain paint and is completely natural will be very interesting for textile producers. It is not carcinogenic effect because it is natural, environmentalist, organic and important for children's clothing so we think that we can get a good result.
Minister Pakdemirli added that, next period the ministry will do joint R&D work with companies on this issue.
