Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli has made inspections together with Naci Ağbal, Head of the Presidential Department of Strategy and Budget on Yusufeli Dam and HEPP Construction in Yusufeli District of Artvin.
"THE PROJECT WILL BEGIN IN JUNE 2021"
Minister Pakdemirli stated that Yusufeli Dam, located 275 meters above the ground, was the world's third or fourth highest dam, and the highest dam in Turkey. The Dam will generate power at a rate of 550 megawatts. When Yusufeli Dam starts operating, we will save $ 300 million of natural gas annually. This dam will start operating in June 2021. Such a mega project is being produced under difficult geographical conditions. It is just one of the works done thanks to the leadership, foresight and vision of our President.
Pointing to the mega projects implemented in Turkey, Pakdemirli said: "There are dozens, hundreds of such projects in Turkey. The world's largest airport, the tunnel under the Bosphorus, passing through the Sea of Marmara, these and dozens of projects like these and they are all documentarily engineering marvels."
Mentioning that there were transportation tunnels opened by carving the mountain in Yusufeli Dam, Minister Pakdemirli informed that they continued to work to bring the dam into the economy as soon as possible.
Stating that citizens could have hesitated over resettlement, Pakdemirli continued his speech as follows:
"If we look at the example of Ilısu, Hasankeyf district turned into a much more beautiful district. It looks really beautiful with its houses, bazaar, and the resettlement. Yusufeli will exactly be the same way. If the state is doing a resettlement Project, then it is doing and completing it in a maximum level of comfort."
"50% MORE THAN LAST YEAR"
Answering the journalists' questions related to the number of livestock before Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), Minister Pakdemirli said: "Last year, 866 thousand cattle, 2 million 682 thousand sheep and goats were sacrificed. This year, we have prepared 1 million 217 thousand cattle, 3 million 895 thousand sheep for sacrifice. That means, Turkey has prepared 50% more sacrificial livestock this year than last year. We expect to have about 300 thousand tons of sacrificial meat and by the way, we do not expect a significant change in meat prices."
Minister Pakdemirli also suggested that the citizens should download the HaySag mobile application if they wanted to get more information about the sacrificial livestock.
"With this application you can perform the operations listed below;
*Obtain information about animal diseases.
*Display of control documents of animal movements.
*Animal welfare regulations
*Questioning of cattle and sheep from the number of earrings.
*Notification of the detected diseases to the nearest provincial directorate.
*Publication of current announcements on animal health and welfare published by the Ministry."
WE HAVE TAKEN ALL NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS RELATED TO SHIPPING
Minister Pakdemirli also noted that all necessary precautions related to intercity delivery have been taken and said::
"With mind at peace, all of our citizens can buy their sacrificial animals from livestock markets. Let them pray and worship by their sacrifices. Our slaughterhouses and veterinarians are also at the disposal of all our citizens who desire to sacrifice their animals. We always wish the slaugherhouses to be used for these purposes. By the way, I would like to take this opportunity to wish our citizens a happy feast and I hope that they will have many happy and healthy feasts with their families."
