Mr. Pakdemirli made a visit to Mugla Province of Turkey and stated that we aim to plant 7 billion seedlings until 2023 which means a seedling for every single person living in the world.
Minister Pakdemirli made an aerial survey on the burnt forest lands in Mugla. He then visited Zeytinköy (a village in Mugla) and answered the questions of the villagers.
WE DO NOT WANT ONE MORE TREE TO BURN
"Mugla is a province whose neighboring area is surrounded by forested lands and that's why it is prone to forest fires. We should struggle against the fires all together. We need to increase awareness. Any garbage, cigarette butt or glass bottle may cause fire. Human factor is the leading reason for forest fires, actually 80% of the forest fires is caused by the human. No matter how the burnt areas are rehabilitated, a natural asset would be lost. One of our main duties is to extinguish the fires. Last year, we can respond to forest fires in 18 minutes. As of today, our teams can respond to fires in 12 minutes. We do not want one more tree to burn." explained Mr. Pakdemirli.
OUR AIM IS TO PLANT 7 BILLION SEEDLINGS
In the last 16 years, we have planted 4.5 billion seedlings and our aim is to reach 7 billion seedlings until 2023. We will plant a seedling for every living person in the world.
Our teams are also working not only for the rehabilitation of burnt areas but also for the redevelopment of the villages negatively affected from forest fires. The government bodies exert every effort to make the daily life easy and livable for the local people.
