Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli said that, according to the Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) type, when Çetin Dam's ongoing construction on the Tigris River completed, it would be the Turkey and Europe's largest dam.
Minister Pakdemirli stated that, construction works are continuing at Çetin Dam, which is located on Botan Stream, the largest tributary of the Tigris River.
Pakdemirli expressing that, when Çetin Dam and hydroelectric power plant in Şirvan and Pervari districts of Siirt are completed, on the basis of body height of 165 meters and according to the Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) type it would be Turkey and Europe's largest dam. And continue his speech as follows;
"Construction works of the project started in 2011. Daily 15,327 cubic meters of concrete is poured into the dam body. When completed, the volume of hull concrete will be 4,726,527 cubic meters. The body height has now reached 102 meters. 615 million cubic meters of water will be stored in the reservoir at the maximum operating level of the dam. There will be a lake area of 37 kilometers and 12 kilometers. The dam will generate 1175 GWh of energy per year."
DAM WILL ENTER SERVICE IN 2020
Minister Pakdemirli also added that, ongoing works at Çetin Dam and HES have now been completed at 84 percent and the project is planned to start operation in the first quarter of 2020.
