a) Contributing to the development of principles, guidelines, and strategies regarding water law policy, coordinating the related missions,
b) Following the practices of national and international water legislation and conducting studies in this subject,
c) Following and reporting the national and international legal processes regarding water management and law,
d) Conducting legal studies on the law-making studies, decisions, and case laws of international bodies and carrying out legal studies in harmonization activities related to water management,
e) Carrying out tasks and procedures regarding to the harmonization of international water legislation with domestic law and providing essential coordination with the related institutions and organizations,
f) Providing opinions on legislative drafts prepared by institutions and organizations,
g) Preparing information and opinions on the legal issues needed on water legislation and practices, or to have them prepared,
h) Preparing opinions, statements, responses, and defenses to be submitted to the court regarding the cases falling within the scope of the General Directorate, compiling information and documents related to the subject of the case, preparing informative reports on court processes,
i) Giving legal opinions to the project proposals to be made with institutions or individuals in the national and international water sector and contributing to the projects,
j) Following the legislation concerning the General Directorate and informing the higher authorities and related departments about the changes in legislations,
k) Conducting regulatory impact assessment studies related to the legislation or contributing to the related departments,
l) To follow and report national and international studies on matters within the scope of the duty of the Working Group, to prepare legislation, to prepare or have guide documents prepared on needed issues, to carry out training studies or to have them madeTo perform other duties assigned by the Head of Department.
