​a) To carry out studies in order to determine the doctrines, principles, strategies and policies related to drought management, 

b) To prepare drought management plans or have drought management plans prepared and to update the these plans, 

c) To analyze the data of the past dry periods of Turkey and to report them by evaluating, 

d) To carry out research and development studies on drought analysis and dry-term water management,

e) To follow up and report national and international studies on the matters covered by the scope of the Working Group, to prepare legislation, to prepare or have guide documents prepared on needed issues, to carry out or have training studies, 

f) To perform other duties assigned by the Head of Department.
