According to the Presidential Decree No. 1 on the Organization of Presidency of Republic of Türkiye published in the Official Gazette dated 10/07/2018 and numbered 30474, the tasks of the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM) are regulated as follows.
a) To carry out studies in order to determine agricultural research and development strategies and priorities in line with national development plans, to prepare, implement projects and have these projects prepared and implemented,
b) To improve and register varieties and breeds and to produce their core materials.
c) To protect and develop domestic gene resources, to provide access to gene resources and to share their benefits; to carry out authorization, monitoring and supervision studies.
d) To monitor national and international developments in agricultural product markets, to conduct researches and have them done on issues falling within the Ministry's remit.
e) To conduct research for the development and rational use of soil and water resources.
f) To determine the research objectives of the research institutions affiliated to the Ministry and to supervise these institutions.
g) To conduct research on vaccines, serums, biological and chemical substances and protection drugs used in animal and plant diseases and on effective and excipients in their composition.
h) To conduct scientific researches on aquaculture products in seas and inland waters and to support their implementation.
i) To conduct researches on food, feed and mechanization.
j) To carry out R&D activities at national and international level and to support the projects within this framework.
k) To perform the similar duties assigned by the Minister.
