Despite the limited production resources that exist today, consumption needs are increasing day by day and it is getting harder to meet the demand of human beings. In order to overcome this problem, people are looking for ways to produce more with their scarce resources. In order to meet the consumption by using the water resources, which have an important role in meeting human needs, in an optimum way, it is necessary to obtain the necessary data in order to obtain higher yields from the unit area with the limited water resources allocated for agriculture in the country and local conditions.
Currently, a very important part of the limited water resources is used for agricultural purposes. Under these conditions, effective water use and water-saving irrigation systems become critical. The urgent and important need for more efficient use of depleting water resources forces farmers to use water-saving technologies as a priority.
The most important limiting factor in rice farming is the supply and management of irrigation water. Difficulties in providing irrigation water are seen as the most important obstacle in closing our rice output gap. Within the framework of sustainable agriculture, efforts to reach safe food and to use scarce resources efficiently are among the priorities of the country. In this context, due to the increasing water shortage in our country, it has become necessary to introduce alternative irrigation methods to the traditional irrigation method in order to enable the cultivation of rice in the rice cultivation areas and in order to expand the existing rice areas, in order to enable the cultivation of rice in the fields that save water and do not require leveling.
In this regard, with the demand and cooperation of the State Hydraulic Works, at TAGEM Research Institutes located in the regions; under the leadership of Atatürk Soil, Water and Agricultural Meteorology Research Institute / KIRKLARELI in the Trakya region, where rice is grown most intensively between 2019-2021, under the supervision of our valuable teacher from Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University; at the International Agricultural Research and Training Center Menemen / IZMIR in the Aegean Region, at the Alata Horticultural Research Institute / MERSIN in the Mediterranean Region, and at the Black Sea Agricultural Research Institute / SAMSUN in the Black Sea Region R&D Projects have been carried out.
With the project results, thanks to the irrigation programs prepared by the alternative water-saving irrigation methods in rice irrigation, the water and soil resources in the region will be protected, more areas will be irrigated with the water to be saved and an increase in productivity will be provided. It is very clear that this will contribute to the farmer's economy, to the development of the region, and therefore to the country's economy. We hope that the results obtained will be beneficial to the local farmers, agricultural broadcasting organizations, research institutions, academic circles and all our producers, and thank everyone who contributed to the project.
