
Mr. A. Volkan GUNGOREN was born in 1977 in Ankara. Following the completion of the Vocational Food Technology School of the Middle East Technical University (METU) as the second top scoring student in 1999, he graduated from METU Food Engineering Department in 2004. He got his Master's Degree from Ankara University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Agricultural Economics in 2012 and started his PhD studies in the same department. Mr. GUNGOREN started his professional career in 1999 as a specialist in the Turkish Foreign Trade Foundation. In 2004, he started his job as Food Inspector in the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock at Kırşehir Provincial Directorate. He served as Food Engineer at the General Directorate for Food and Control between 2007-2009 and at the Press and Public Relations Advisory Department between 2009-2011. Mr. GUNGOREN, being the Coordinator for the Working Group at the General Directorate for Food and Control between 2011- 2015, was appointed as Head of the Department for International Organizations of Directorate General for European Union and Foreign Relations in 2015. As of February 2018, Mr. GUNGOREN performs duties as the Deputy General Director at the same General Directorate.
A. Volkan GUNGOREN participated in various national and international training courses in the fields of food safety and food security. He also became successful in the World Trade Organization's 47th Trade Policy Course in Switzerland in 2009. He also maintains his duties as Independent Foreign Expert of United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UN-FAO) and Food Chain Infrastructure Specialist for NATO-CEPC Joint Health, Agriculture and Food/Water Group (JHAFG).
He is married and has two children.
