- Establish procedures for the approval processes of dietary supplements.

- Manage the formation and secretariat of the Dietary Supplement Commission responsible for evaluating supplements.

- Organize and coordinate education programs related to dietary supplement approvals in collaboration with relevant departments.

- Contribute to the compilation of the resource catalog of food businesses within the scope of the mobilization and automation project.

- Define specific hygiene rules for school canteens and coordinate the implementation of the school food logo.

- Draft feed legislation and define procedures regarding the marketing and use of feed.

- Ensure feed safety and contribute to policy development in this area.

- Coordinate and maintain communication with national and international institutions and NGOs within the scope of responsibilities.

- Conduct legislative work relevant to its domain, implement it, and participate in similar work with other institutions.

- Conduct and commission market surveillance and inspection of food and materials in contact with food.

- Oversee official inspection and control practices regarding hygiene rules in food businesses during the production, processing, and distribution stages of food, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

- Develop policies related to food safety and monitor their progress.

- Define principles for traceability throughout food production, processing, and distribution stages.

- Establish emergency action plans related to food safety and manage crisis response.

- Support nutrition-related projects and educational activities carried out by relevant institutions and ensure internal coordination.

- Develop and implement projects for improving technical infrastructure; provide food safety training within the EU harmonization scope in coordination with relevant ministry departments.

- Cooperate with producers' and consumers' unions, universities, and relevant sectors on food safety and hygiene issues.

- Prepare hygiene guidelines, brochures, posters, and similar materials in coordination with the relevant ministry unit and ensure their dissemination.

- Collaborate with relevant organizations to protect public health by promoting food safety and hygiene.

- Define procedures for approval and registration of food and feed businesses.

- Specify the technical and hygiene requirements for approved and registered food and feed businesses.

- Monitor and coordinate registration and approval procedures carried out by Provincial Directorates.

- Organize training activities and implement projects to improve the technical infrastructure of food businesses.

- Arrange and coordinate training for official veterinarians and auxiliaries working in meat cutting plants in collaboration with relevant ministry units.

- Prepare annual and multi-annual control plans.

- Draft and publish annual activity reports based on inspection results.

- Develop and implement the National Residue Plan for live animals, primary animal products, and meats; monitor the outcomes nationwide and determine laboratories and responsibilities within the framework of the National Residue Monitoring Plans, ensuring internal coordination.

- Follow up on approval processes of facilities handling animal by-products intended for feed use.

- Inspect and control feed businesses and feeds available on the market.

- Monitor physical, chemical, and biological hazards in feeds and carry out relevant inspections.

- Implement procedures related to feeds subject to approval.

- Manage feed-related risk communication and risk management activities.

- Ensure traceability during feed production, processing, and distribution stages.

- Track and evaluate feed production volumes and prices.

- Develop policies to support the growth of the feed sector and prepare related reports.

- Establish emergency action plans related to feed and manage crisis response.

- Coordinate and maintain communication with national and international institutions and NGOs within the scope of responsibilities.

- Conduct legislative work relevant to its domain, implement it, and participate in similar work with other institutions.

- Perform official inspections and issue Plant Health Certificates for exported plants and plant products.

- Define phytosanitary requirements for the import of plants and plant products.

- Represent the Ministry, in coordination with the Directorate General for EU and Foreign Affairs, before organizations such as EPPO, IPPC, WTO, and other relevant international bodies; monitor studies conducted by these organizations, identify plant pests not yet on the national quarantine list but posing risks, and notify related institutions by establishing quarantine rules.

- Designate ports of entry and exit for the import and export of plants and plant products when needed.

- Establish laboratories capable of diagnosing quarantine pests and conduct necessary work to enhance laboratory capacity.

- Set import requirements for plants, plant products, wooden packaging materials, and other risk-bearing substances based on pest risk analysis results.

- Carry out official inspections upon import and export of plant-origin foods, materials and articles in contact with food, and feed.

- Conduct official inspections and issue Health Certificates for the export of plant-origin food, materials and articles in contact with food, and feed.

- Manage operations related to border control points for plant-origin food and feed.

- Determine the health conditions for plant-origin food and feed import.

- Coordinate official correspondence and agreements with other countries concerning quarantine, phytosanitary measures, and food safety for plants, plant products, and plant-origin food and feed.

- Draft and implement international cooperation agreements in the field of plant protection and quarantine, and ensure inter-institutional coordination in executing these agreements.

- Evaluate applications submitted by real and legal persons and official institutions intending to conduct commercial fumigation and issue licenses to eligible applicants, conducting regular inspections thereafter.

- Organize training programs for fumigation operators and assistants.

- License facilities intending to apply heat treatment to wooden packaging materials used in export shipments, and conduct routine inspections of these facilities, suppliers, exporters, and the packaging materials themselves.

- Train heat treatment operators.

- Notify international organizations about newly detected quarantine pests in Türkiye.

- Operate the rapid alert notification service related to plants, plant products, and feed.

- Coordinate and maintain communication with national and international institutions and NGOs within the scope of responsibilities.

- Define quality and health requirements for the import and export of animal food and feed, and animal by-products intended for human consumption or feed use; implement necessary safety measures to protect human and animal health.

- Collaborate and coordinate with veterinary authorities of other countries concerning the import, export, and transit of animal food and feed, and animal by-products intended for human consumption or feed use.

- Handle export procedures of animal food and feed, and animal by-products; determine facility compliance according to the importing country's criteria and conduct inspections when necessary.

- Assess the eligibility of countries and facilities for the import of animal food and feed, and animal by-products intended for human consumption or feed use; carry out inspections when required and maintain updated lists of eligible countries, regions, and facilities.

- Establish agreements with veterinary authorities of relevant countries within the scope of assigned duties.

- Determine veterinary border control points for the entry of animal food and feed, and supervise related activities.

- Manage rapid alert notifications associated with the export of animal food and feed, and animal by-products intended for human consumption or feed use.

- In matters related to food and feed safety, and plant health:

o Establish scientific committees and commissions to conduct risk assessments based on scientific principles according to subject areas.

o Manage the secretariat of the scientific risk assessment committees and commissions.

o Prepare legislation regarding the operations, establishment, and procedures of risk assessment activities, as well as scientific committees and commissions.

o Provide scientific and technical support to risk managers and offer advisory opinions.

o Deliver scientific and technical assistance to risk managers during crisis situations upon request.

o Collaborate with similar national and international organizations performing risk assessments when needed.

o Conduct public communication initiatives to ensure reliable, impartial, and accurate dissemination of risk assessment results.

o Carry out or commission any type of research and project related to risk assessment.

- Handle affairs related to food control laboratories under the Ministry and private food control laboratories conducting analysis of food, materials and articles in contact with food, and feed; maintain their records and supervise their operations.

- Manage activities within the scope of the General Directorate's responsibilities involving print, visual media, and social media platforms.

- Coordinate and maintain communication with national and international institutions and NGOs relevant to its domain.

- Draft and implement legislation and contribute to legislative activities in cooperation with other institutions.

- Identify educational deficiencies and prepare in-service training programs in collaboration with relevant ministry departments.

- Propose database creation to the Directorate General of Information Technologies, contribute to its development and use, collect and analyze statistical data, and run educational activities with relevant ministry units.

- Fulfill other duties assigned by the Director General.

- ​Ensure coordination among the units within the General Directorate and manage legislative preparation, information gathering, and data collection activities related to its area of responsibility.

- Coordinate domestic and international education, publication, and dissemination services of the General Directorate.

- Oversee the planning and implementation of projects and annual budgets for the General Directorate.

- Coordinate all international activities conducted with Ministry units and external institutions or countries.

- Supervise the General Directorate's information systems software and hardware services.

- Collaborate with Ministry IT units and external organizations to ensure integration with other systems and take necessary actions.

- Manage internal control activities and coordination among units.

- Facilitate interdepartmental coordination on matters such as budgets, projects, programs, and data sharing, and communicate these to the relevant unit.

- Monitor the physical and financial performance of domestic and foreign-funded projects periodically and report developments to relevant units.

- Conduct budget amendments, fund allocations, payment orders, and related tasks, ensure coordination among departments, and prepare information for the annual final account law proposal and submit it to the appropriate unit.

- Prepare periodic public reports pursuant to the Public Financial Management and Control Law No. 5018 and communicate them to the relevant unit.

- Manage the General Directorate's movable property records.

- Carry out announcement and tracking of staff leave, promotion, assignment, relocation, and retirement processes, along with healthcare services, salaries, daily allowances, additional payments, overtime, special service compensation, and travel expenses; collaborate with the General Directorate of Personnel and Support Services Department when needed.

- Manage document and archive services of the General Directorate.

- Oversee assignment and usage of service vehicles based on needs.

- Coordinate emergency planning, civil defense, and mobilization services including CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) threats in accordance with applicable legislation.

- Procure goods and services such as maintenance, cleaning, and hygiene as needed, collaborating with other units when required.

- Coordinate work areas defined in the strategic plan and performance program of the Ministry relevant to the General Directorate.

- Draft, implement, and participate in legislation development activities in cooperation with other institutions.

- Identify educational gaps and organize in-service training programs in collaboration with relevant ministry units.

- Propose database creation to the Directorate General of Information Technologies, contribute to development and use, gather and analyze statistical data, and run educational activities with relevant units.

- Fulfill other duties assigned by the Director General.
