in line with these provisions and the instructions of our Ministry.
The work and procedures carried out by the Veterinary Border Inspection Posts during live animal and germinal products imports are given below:
a) It carries out official controls such as document control, identity control and physical controls at the entry into the country of live animals, germinal products and plant products such as hay and straw that have the risk of transmitting animal diseases.
b) As a result of the official controls carried out on the entry into the country of live animals, germinal products and plant products such as hay and straw that have the risk of transmitting animal diseases, it carries out further examinations or ensures that they are carried out in case of a suspicious situation that poses a danger to human and animal health. If non-compliance is detected as a result of the inspections, it takes the necessary measures and immediately informs the Central Competent Authority.
c) It maintains the current list of countries/regions/establishments where entry into the country of live animals, germinal products and plant products such as hay and straw that are at risk of transmitting animal diseases is prohibited or permitted, model veterinary health certificates and other documents.
d) It keeps copies of all decisions restricting or prohibiting the entry into the country of live animals, germinal products and plant products such as hay and straw that have the risk of transmitting animal diseases.
d) It constantly communicates with all Veterinary Border Inspection Posts in the country and maintains a detailed list of existing Veterinary Border Inspection Posts.
e) In case of transit, the responsible personnel at the Veterinary Border Inspection Posts where the entry will be made conveys detailed information about the shipment to the Veterinary Border Inspection Posts where the shipment will be exited. The responsible personnel at the Veterinary Border Inspection Posts that exits the shipment informs the entry Veterinary Border Inspection Posts about the departure of the shipment.
f) It enters the data of live animals, germinal products and plant products such as hay and straw that have the risk of transmitting animal diseases into the database created by the Veterinary Border Inspection Posts and keeps up-to-date records.
g) Keeps a record of all shipments that are not allowed to enter the country and are sent back, destroyed or subjected to special processing. Information regarding a shipment that has been refused entry into the country due to its danger to animal and human health is immediately notified to the Ministry and other Veterinary Border Inspection Posts in the country.
h) Keeps records of all samples taken from shipments at Veterinary Border Inspection Posts for the purpose of performing laboratory tests, as well as the details of the requested laboratory tests and all test results.
ı) It maintains constant cooperation and communication with the relevant Customs Directorate and other relevant institutions and organizations.
