Department of Horticultural Research
a) To prepare, monitor and evaluate research projects on horticultural plants and have these projects prepared and implemented,
b) To provide the registration of new varieties obtained as a result of horticultural research and breeding studies, to ensure the continuity of the registered varieties, to assist in the production of elite and original seed and vegetative propagation materials and certified saplings of varieties within the scope of the production program,
c) To prepare, implement, monitor and evaluate projects on the collection, characterization, conservation and sustainable use of genetic resources in horticultural research,
d) To prepare, implement, monitor and evaluate projects in order to develop technologies for reducing post-harvest losses,
e) To cooperate with the relevant institutions and organizations for the publication and implementation of the outputs and findings obtained from the research studies,
f) To perform other similar duties to be assigned by TAGEM.
Department of Plant Health Research
a) To prepare, follow up and evaluate research projects on plant diseases and pests, weeds, plant protection pesticides and equipment, residues, alternative methods of control, physiology and toxicology,
b) To design and prepare the "Agricultural Control Technical Instructions", which determine the principles of combating diseases, pests and weeds that cause damage to cultivated plants in Turkey and are of economic importance, and to ensure their transfer to the implementing institutions,
c) To ensure that pesticide trials to be carried out for licensing, research or recommendation purposes can be carried out in accordance with EPPO standards and to prepare "standard pesticide trial methods" and trial methods on the side effects of pesticides against beneficial insects,
d) To determine the fauna of living things that harm plants and their natural enemies of parasitoids, predators and
entomopathogens, to identify and detect their species and propagation forms, to carry out taxonomic studies, to prepare research projects related to these studies, to conduct surveys,
e) To prepare, implement, monitor and evaluate projects related to the collection, conservation and evaluation of gene resources of all living things used in biological control studies,
f) To cooperate with the relevant institutions and agencies for the publication and implementation of the findings and results obtained from the research studies,
g) To perform other similar duties to be assigned by TAGEM.
Department of Animal Health, Food and Feed Research
a) To prepare, implement, monitor and evaluate research projects for the development of technology and methods for the processing, production, packaging, storage, transportation and presentation of foodstuffs and animal feeds in a way that does not harm human health, animal health and the environment in terms of additives, residues and contaminants,
b) To conduct research on nutritional habits, food and food additives, preservatives, coloring agents, sweeteners, feed and animal feeding, to develop new products and methods on these topics,
c) To prepare and implement research projects related to all animal diseases that prevent the development of the country's livestock
sector and cause economic losses and to monitor and evaluate ongoing projects,
d) To prepare, implement, monitor and evaluate research projects to contribute to the development of epidemiology of animal diseases and new control strategies,
e) To ensure the production, quality development and implementation of modern diagnostic methods, vaccination, serum and biological substances to combat animal diseases and pests, to prepare research projects on biotechnology, to monitor and evaluate ongoing projects,
f) To cooperate with the relevant institutions and agencies for the publication and implementation of the findings and results obtained from the research studies,
g) To perform other similar duties to be assigned by TAGEM.
Department of Administrative Affairs and Coordination
a) To determine the annual investment programs and budgets of TAGEM and research institutes and stations and to ensure the realization of these programs and budgets,
b) To carry out the works of TAGEM related to internal control and to ensure coordination between the units,
c) To coordinate the preparation of the budget of TAGEM in accordance with the relevant plans and programs and to follow-up its implementation,
d) To ensure interdepartmental coordination on issues related to budget, projects and programs and to convey them to the relevant units,
e) To carry out abatement, allowance transfer, payment order transactions related to the budget of TAGEM and to prepare the information related to the draft annual final account law and to forward it to the relevant unit,
f) To monitor the physical and monetary performances of internally-financed projects at certain periods, to send reports on developments to the relevant units,
g) To periodically prepare the reports to be published to the Public according to the Public Financial Management and Control Law No. 5018 dated 10/12/2003 and to forward these reports to the relevant unit,
h) To carry out the movable goods transactions of TAGEM,
i) To prepare, implement and execute domestic and international training programs at various levels of researcher personnel working in central and provincial organizations,
j) To carry out studies with the aim of improving the agricultural research and development capacity of the Ministry
k) To ensure that written and oral queries and applications for information are answered in coordination with the relevant departments,
l) To ensure the realization of the draft laws, decisions of the Council of Ministers, regulations and communiqués prepared by the relevant departments of TAGEM,
m) To follow up and carry out all kinds of personnel, administrative, financial and legal affairs and transactions of TAGEM,
n) To perform other similar duties to be assigned by TAGEM.
Department of Agricultural Economics and Project Management
a) To prepare, implement, execute, monitor and evaluate research projects on the effectiveness of infrastructure, investment, production, operation, trade and supports in order to increase the contribution of the agricultural sector to the economy,
b) To prepare, implement, execute, monitor and evaluate research projects in the fields of business administration, planning, management, financing, accounting, marketing, costs, agricultural law, rural sociology, organization, rural development, agricultural extension for the agricultural sector,
c) To prepare, implement, execute, monitor and evaluate research projects to determine the economic effects of possible changes caused by climate change and other environmental factors on the use and management of natural resources,
d) To coordinate the projects carried out in research institutions affiliated to TAGEM, to create a database related to the ongoing and finalized projects,
e) To keep records of projects carried out within the framework of public-private sector cooperation in research institutions affiliated to TAGEM.
f) To carry out the secretariat works of the projects to which our Ministry is a partner within the framework of TUBITAK, Public Institutions Research and Development Projects Support Program,
g) To cooperate with the relevant institutions and agencies for the publication and implementation of the findings and results obtained from the research studies,
h) To coordinate the studies regarding the establishment of program evaluation meetings, committees and working groups within the agricultural research organization, submission of the decisions taken to the approval and announcement to the relevant units,
i) To carry out all kinds of transactions of the students sent abroad on behalf of TAGEM for master's and doctoral education in accordance with the Law on the Law on Students to be sent to Foreign Countries dated 8/4/1929 and numbered 1416,
h) To follow up externally-sourced R&D programs, and to inform and guide TAGEM and its affiliated units,
j) To compile, follow and evaluate information about externally-sourced projects carried out by TAGEM and affiliated research institutions,
k) To carry out activities to increase the participation of research institutes in external programs/projects, especially in EU framework programs,
l) To carry out all kinds of bilateral cooperation works with international organizations and foreign countries in coordination with the Directorate General for European Union and Foreign Relations in the matters falling within the scope of the duty of TAGEM,
m) To ensure the execution of the activities related to the delegations visiting from abroad and the delegations to be sent abroad in coordination with the Directorate General for European Union and Foreign Relations in the matters falling within the scope of the duty of TAGEM,
n) To determine the agricultural research needs and priorities of the Ministry and to carry out secretariat duties related to the support of the research and development projects submitted in accordance with the legislation in force,
o) To perform other similar duties to be assigned by TAGEM.
Department of Field Crops Research
a) To prepare, execute, implement, monitor and evaluate research projects related to effective use of field, meadow-rangeland and forage crop production resources, increasing productivity, diversification of products, and product quality improvement and mechanization,
b) To ensure the registration of the outputs acquired from field, meadow-pasture and forage crops research, to provide the continuity of the material acquired as a result of the breeding studies, to produce the elite and original seeds of the varieties as part of the production program,
c) To prepare, implement, execute, monitor and evaluate projects on the use, collection,
characterization, conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity and genetic resources in breeding programs,
d) To cooperate with the relevant institutions and agencies for the publication and implementation of the findings and results obtained from the research studies,
e) To perform other similar duties to be assigned by TAGEM.
Department of Soil and Water Resources Research
a) To prepare, execute, monitor and evaluate research projects on the effective and sustainable use, classification of soil and water resources, database
creation and on-site conservation of soil moisture,
b) To prepare, execute, monitor and evaluate research projects on climate change, desertification, erosion, soil and water pollution,
c) To prepare, implement, execute, monitor and evaluate projects on alternative methods that will increase the efficiency of fertilizer and soil regulators on plant yield and quality and save money in the use of chemical fertilizers,
d) To ensure the development and adaptation of new models and technologies in the use of technology,
e) To cooperate with the relevant institutions and agencies for the publication and implementation of the findings and results obtained from the research studies,
f) To perform other similar duties to be assigned by TAGEM.
