DG of TAGEM, Dr. Metin TÜRKER participated in the international events "Montpellier Global Days" organized in cooperation with CGIAR (Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research) and Montpellier University on 18-20 March 2024.
120 Researchers and academics, 30 Public Institution representatives and 20 NGO representatives from 60 countries participated in the event.
At the event, panels and case studies were held on the current situation, crises, relations between stakeholders, opportunities and 2024-2025-2026 actions on world agenda issues such as Global Climate Change, Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems, Land Degradation, Irrigation Management, Biodiversity.
On the first day of the "Montpellier Global Days" Event planned in cooperation with CGIAR and Montpellier University,
DG, Dr. Metin TÜRKER visited the Montpellier Research Institute, one of the four Institutes of the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM). An exchange of views was held with the Director of the Institute, Mr. Thiery DUPEUBLE, and the researchers about the possibilities of strengthening the Institute-TAGEM bilateral relations.
Regarding to the online meeting previously held with CIHEAM Secretary General Mr. Teodoro MIANO and 4 Institutes, DG Dr. Metin TÜRKER received information about the determined contact point activities. It has been observed that TAGEM has become the focus attention of 4 CHIEAM Institutes (Bari/Italy, Chania/Greece, Montpellier/France and Zaragoza/Spain)
DG, Dr. Metin TÜRKER also held meetings with 5 young Turkish master and PhD students at the Institute and emphasized the importance of cooperation in courses, expert exchange and joint project preparation. Information sharing and collaboration opportunities on country experiences and cooperation opportunities between CIHEAM Institute and TAGEM were also evaluated.
